The Rebuilding Futures Alliance (RFA) recently welcomed senior representatives from across the rail, construction, and manufacturing sectors to its “Seeing is Believing” tour at HMP Ranby.
Attendees included representatives from Network Rail, the Department for Transport, Alstom, Costain Group PLC, Genius, New Futures Network, Tilbury Douglas, Collis Engineering Ltd, and Cembre Group.
The visit formed part of RFA’s ongoing work to demonstrate the socio-economic value of developing manufacturing and supply chain partnerships within the HMP estate. The tour showcased the potential of prison-based industries to contribute to national productivity, strengthen supply chain resilience, and create meaningful employment pathways for individuals with convictions.
Throughout the visit, guests were given insight into current capabilities within HMP Ranby and the wider estate, alongside discussions on how structured partnerships could support both operational needs and wider social value objectives across industry.
RFA highlighted the role that such collaborations can play in supporting rehabilitation and reducing reoffending through access to real work environments and employer-led pathways into sustained employment.
Chris Leech, Founder said, "This initiative is not only about unlocking industrial capacity, but also about recognising and developing human potential within the justice system."
Following the tour, the Alliance confirmed that further “Seeing is Believing” tours will be held in the future, as it continues to promote awareness of HMP capabilities and foster long-term partnerships with industry.
RFA remains committed to working with partners across government and industry to explore innovative approaches to employment, rehabilitation, and inclusive growth within the UK economy.
